Enjoy Retirement in a Diesel RV

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

When you retire, you should feel free to do whatever you want and go wherever you want, whenever you want to go. This can be the case if you choose to purchase a diesel RV. Most commonly known as diesel pushers in the RV world, these motor homes can do things your typical RV cannot.

Mountains are No Problem

Unless you are accustomed to driving in snow, it is not recommended. However, for those who have spent their life driving a several feel of snow, then seeing the Rockies during the winter is perfectly feasible.

Many larger motor homes do not have the power to climb such steep mountain roads. Add a tiny layer of snow and even snow chains don’t help get you over the summit. However, a diesel engine has enough power and torque to get you over any hill you wish.

Plenty of Living Space

Wonder what living space and diesel have in common? Well, the larger engine means it can pull heavier weights safely. This means you can get the biggest RV out there to live in. Some of the diesel pushers have enough slide outs to turn a Class A motor home in to a double wide, or something very close.

If you cannot possibly live in something as “small” as a diesel pusher, then the RV lifestyle may not be for you – you just can’t get more mobile living space than a diesel RV.

Better on Gas

Even in times of high gas prices, you will be able to enjoy your diesel pusher. They get many more miles per gallon than your average motor home. This means that instead of your RV sitting in the driveway collecting dust, you can still tour the U.S. during your retirement.

It is your retirement and you should enjoy it. Look into a diesel RV and see if they are right for you.

Diesel Pushers: When It’s Time to Sell

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Like the majority of RV lovers, at some point you will need to sell your beloved diesel pusher.  This can be a hard time for many as they have fond memories and great times packed into that RV. However, knowing a few tip and tricks can make the process a whole lot easier.

Clean Your Diesel RV Up
Even though you take care of your home away from home, everyone has little “hidden” areas that get dirty. In my home, I let the windows slide. I don’t really clean them like I should. My friend, she lets the stove slide. She will clean the top, but she doesn’t wipe off the front. Other people let dirt built up on the bathroom faucets.

Whatever your little hidden dirt area, you need to clean up your diesel pusher. Walk around it with brand new eyes and look for something that would turn a potential buyer off.

Get a Tune-Up Before You Put Your Used RV for Sale Up
Take the RV in to get the oil changed, fluids filled and tires checked. It gives comfort to a new owner to know when the last time all these things happened. If you keep records of this stuff, have that readily available, too.

Selling Used RVs to a Dealer
RVs are an expensive item. If yours is in good shape, you may not be able to get funds from an individual. A dealer can give you funds in a readily available manner. You do not have to worry about checks clearing and you will have no fear of non-sufficient funds. A dealer can also help you with all the paperwork that goes along with it.

Selling to a Person
If you do decide to sell to a person, be very careful with online scams. Never give the keys to anyone until you have cash funds available. You want to make sure money orders, certified checks or any other funds has passed the security of your bank and is readily available.

Good luck selling your old diesel pusher and have fun in your new one.
