Beaudry RV Company Announces Top Motivators for RV Purchases

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Phoenix, AZ. With the worst of the recession over, RV dealers are looking for ways to tap into a growing population becoming interested in RV travel. While dealers once relied on the baby boomer generation retiring to boost sales, they are now also looking at a younger generation of owners. Families are not the only ones interested in the RV lifestyle, single adventurers are also looking to invest in pop-ups, campers, towables and fifth wheels.

RVIA conducted a study of RV owners and non-RV owners to find out what would motivate a new or current buyer to purchase a new RV or fifth wheel. The results were not all that surprising:

•    RVers save 27 to 61 percent on a typical family vacation (73 percent)
•    Couples who RV develop stronger bonds with each other (68 percent)
•    RVing allows you to be more physically active (67 percent)
•    RVing provides an escape from everyday pressure and stress (65 percent)
•    Kids who travel with their families by RV receive educational benefits (58 percent)
•    Traveling by RV reduces exposure to illnesses and other health risks (56 percent)

Beaudry RV Company has created an environment for family bonding through their concerts, rallies and down home BBQs. RVing has been a part of history and has survived the recession precisely because of the same values that are still attracting people to the RV and fifth wheel way of life. Spending time together away from home allows a different kind of bonding. Investing in RVs and fifth wheels now is an investment in future travel as well as retirement travel.

“The recession weeded out RV companies that didn’t understand their customers,” says Scott Beaudry of Beaudry RV Company. “Owning and traveling by RV is a way of life that starts as soon as a customer walks onto the lot. It’s about their experience of buying and traveling. You get one shot to appeal to a customers needs and we take that seriously.”

3 Must-Visit Places to See in Class A Motor Homes

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Helping people experience the joys of owning Class A motor homes is part of our job. We don’t want to sell you a RV that just sits in your driveway or in some storage unit. We want you to experience the open road and go places you never thought about going. Therefore, we have a few ideas for places you might want to try.

Roswell, New Mexico

Everyone has heard of the little green men. Check out the place it all started by heading to New Mexico. They are RV and “visitor” friendly—even if you’re from Mars!  Even if you don’t believe in aliens, this is a must-see place. The whole town gets into the spirit with alien décor everywhere. Even the street lamps have alien eyes pasted on. If you go during the July 4th weekend, you will find an alien conference and parade, which includes adorable basset hounds.

Carlsbad, New Mexico

A short jump from Roswell—just a few hours—lies Carlsbad Caverns. These are the largest caverns in the United States, and open up into a whopping 8 acre “Big Room.” You have to see this one to believe it. Additionally, if you go there from mid-April to mid-October, you can see bats flying out of the opening.

While there is no camping at the National Park, there is a RV park a short 6 miles down the road. It literally sits at the entrance to the park.

Odessa, Texas

As long as you are heading east, you might want to travel a few more hours across the border to Texas. Fans of the TV show “Heroes” will recognize it as the home of the Bennett family, but in the real world, Odessa is the sight of the “Odessa Meteor.” At the site you will find a museum, a piece of the meteor and see the spot where it landed. You can also ask the museum operators about seeing the World’s Largest Jack Rabbit. It is just a few minutes away and is worth seeing.

Truck, Fifth Wheel, and a Vacation Waiting to Happen

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

While it is not recommended to buy a truck, fifth wheel travel trailers are a great option for those who already own a truck. It is important to remember that you can only pull a fifth wheel with a truck. This is due to the 5th wheel hitch. The hitch attaches to the bed of the truck for better stability. Therefore, no truck means no fifth wheel.

Still, if you have the truck and vacation time, then all you are missing is the fifth wheel. Once you get that final piece of the puzzle, you will start finding more and more excuses to take a vacation.

Why a 5th Wheel?
For those of you who already own a good work truck (or heavy duty play truck), a fifth wheel is definitely worth looking into. They are the biggest, roomiest, and most comfortable of all travel trailers. The only thing that comes close to it is the Class A motor home.

Still, the fifth wheel is better than the Class A. Unlike motor homes, 5th wheels are detachable. You can park the trailer and take your truck out on the town. This saves you a lot of time and frustration since you don’t have to pull along an extra car. Additionally, you have the benefit of using your own vehicle.

Everything You Could Want in a Trailer
A fifth wheel can have any amenity available. This means that you can have a four-door refrigerator, a washer and dryer, a full stove, a complete bathroom and a complete entertainment system. Basically, if you have seen an amenity in another RV, then you can bet you can find it in the 5th wheel.

Truck + fifth wheel = the road trip adventure of your life!  You can leave the hurried, fast-paced corporate world behind and relax in the luxury of your own personal RV. What more could one ask for in a dream vacation?

RV Fifth Wheel: 3 Things You Need to Know

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

If you are like thousands of other baby boomers, then thoughts of retirement have been flooding your mind. For many soon-to-be-retirees, those thoughts include the RV, fifth wheel RV, if you want to be specific. However, before you start out on your RV dream, you need to know three things.

#1 You Must Own a Truck (Not SUV)

While many know that a fifth wheel requires a truck, it is not common knowledge. Therefore, we have found that everyone should know that only a truck can pull a fifth wheel.  While SUVs can handle the weight, the 5th wheel hitch attaches to the bed of the truck. Since it attaches to the bed, there is no point even looking at a fifth wheel unless you own a truck, unless of course you intend to buy a truck, too.

#2 The 5th Wheel Hitch is NOT a Bumper Hitch

Ok, so you own a truck. You even own a big diesel hauling truck. You have no doubt in your mind that your truck can pull a fifth wheel no matter how big it is or how much it weighs. You still need a specific hitch.

Again, the fifth wheel hitch must go in the bed of the truck. Whether you get a gooseneck or a fifth wheel hitch, it will be installed in the bed. It does not matter how much your bumper hitch can tow—if you want to drive a 5th wheel, then the hitch must be in the bed of the truck.

#3 Occasionally, 5th Wheel Hitches Must be Professionally Installed

Sometimes, you have to cut part of the truck to install the hitch. In all cases, you need to be careful of fuel and brake lines. If you feel confident in your abilities, then you can install the hitch yourself, just be very careful to follow the instructions.

We want you to enjoy your retirement and your fifth wheel. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.

Bumper Pull Travel Trailer: the Cheapest Way to Explore RVs

Monday, March 29th, 2010

For anyone interested in RVs but not sure they will like it, starting off with a used bumper pull travel trailer is your cheapest option. Even if you go with a new bumper puller, the price can be very affordable. It really is a great way to enter the RV world.

Attaches to Any Vehicle

The good news about lightweight travel trailers is they can attach to just about any car. A standard hitch on the bumper of a sedan can pull around 3,500 pounds. Now, this will not be your biggest trailer and it won’t have a lot of living space, but it will give you a chance to explore RVs for around $10,000. This is considerably less than a full size fifth wheel that goes for around $60,000, or the Class A motorhome that runs around $100,00 – $300,000.

If you have a three-quarter ton or bigger truck (not SUV), then you can opt for a fifth wheel trailer. These are bigger, more luxurious, and more expensive than a bumper pull trailer. In fact, these are comparable to the very large and luxurious Class A motorhome.

Everything You Need in a Small Package

Even the smallest pop-up and the cheapest of trailers come with bathroom, shower, kitchen, sleeping area, dining area, and entertainment area. The smallest pop-ups will have at least two beds, which accommodates four. Now you wouldn’t want to spend your entire trip indoors, but it is quite convenient for cooking, showering, and sleeping.

If you are not sure if the RV lifestyle is right for you, then starting in a small and affordable bumper pull travel trailer is a great way to start. However, be forewarned that you might get hooked and find yourself buying a larger RV in the near future!
