As we have said time and time again, we want all our customers to be happy with their selection and for some that means finding repo RVs for sale. This can be a difficult process if you don’t know where to look or what to do once you find one.
How to Find Repossessed RVs
There are two basic ways of finding repo RVs. First, you can check auctions. Generally, banks will put their repossessed travel trailers, pop-ups, toy haulers, and motor homes up for sale at a local auction. These auctions tend to be silent. Therefore, you are less likely to get into a bidding war.
The other way is to check RV dealer lots. RV dealers may have purchased the vehicle or they may be selling it on consignment. In either case, you should still be able to get a good deal when purchasing in this manner.
How to Bid on Repo RVs
A good rule of thumb for finding the value of a used RV is taking 30% off the new price. This means that if you find an RV that sells new for $60,000 then you need to take 30% ($18,000) off the price, putting the used price at $42,000.
Next, consider any repairs that may need to be done. If you have a chance to inspect the RV, then add up the cost to fix things and deduct it from the price. If you cannot inspect it, then deduct somewhere between 5% for newer models and 15% on older models.
If you cannot inspect the RV before the auction, always check to make sure you are not obligated to buy it if major repairs need to be done.
Checking out repo RVs for sale is a great way to save money. Repos are highly likely to be in great condition and can be bought at a very low price.
