Tips to Get the Top Dollar from Your Toy Hauler Trade

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

When you are ready to make a toy hauler trade, come to us for an easy transition. Whether you want to trade in your old recreational vehicle for a new or used one or you want us to sell your old RV for you, we are here to help. However, you can do a few things to help us get you the most money out of your RV.

Clean It Yourself
While we have the ability to clean up used RVs to make them presentable to the public, it costs us time and money to do so. This means we will not be able to offer you quite as much because we have to take our costs into consideration. Therefore, it is in your best interests to clean up your RV as best as possible. This one little step will increase the value of your trade in more than you would think.

Repair or Replace Broken Items
Again, we have the ability to replace and repair broken items. However, it costs us more than it would cost you. Therefore, if you can go around your travel trailer or motor home and look for broken items, it will help.

Anything that you can easily repair or replace should be done. Ideally, you will want to make sure all light bulbs are working, all doors shut properly, all the fuses are working, and the battery is fully charged. You will also want to check the windshield wipers, replace loose knobs, and tighten down anything that is loose.

Once you have done all you can to increase the value of your toy hauler, bring it on down to us and we will help you trade in your old RV and get you set up with the new or used RV of your choice.

Load Your Trailer, Travel to Arkansas, Grab Some Crystals

Friday, April 16th, 2010

With so many things to do and so many places to go in your trailer, the travel never has to stop. This is why so many retirees love travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels and motor homes. All you need to do is pack up the trailer and let the adventure begin.

Crystal Mining in Arkansas
At Blue Moon Crystals & Jewelry, you can dig for crystals for only $10 a day. You get to keep everything you find and they even guarantee you will find something. If you don’t find anything, then you will get your money back.

RV Park Onsite
While the park does not have septic, they do have four spots with electric and water available for $10 a day. They also have 23 sites with no hook-ups for $4 a day. Additionally, you can use their showers for $2 a person.

Since there are only four sites with hook-ups, you need to make your reservations early. However, those who can’t find a campsite on location should have no problems finding a RV park close by.

Get Down and Dirty
Digging for crystals is a dirty business. The red clay will stain everything you are wearing. Therefore, put on your least valuable clothes, some old sneakers, and prepare to ruin anything you are wearing. The good news is in exchange for ruined clothes, you can come out with some very nice crystals.

Tips for Digging
In order to find crystals, you will need some basic equipment. This includes:

  • Small rake
  • Bucket
  • Gloves
  • Flathead screwdriver (to pry out crystals)
  • Plenty of water and snacks

While you can walk up and down the piles looking for crystals, you will have better luck digging in a pile. Squish through the mud for anything hard. Rake away mud you already went through. Then put your found crystals in the bucket and start looking forward to the gorgeous gems you can display once they’re cleaned.

Next time you pack up the trailer, travel to Arkansas crystal mines. Not only is it fun, you will get some good souvenirs as well.

4 Tips to Buying a Toy Hauler Trailer

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

When you start looking for a toy hauler trailer, you need to think how you are going to use it. Until you decide what toys you plan on taking with you, it does no good looking around. Here are four things to consider before making the purchase.

How much room do you need?

The trailers look pretty large when empty. However, when you start loading up 4 wheelers, it gets cramped fast. Even dirt bikes will start taking up a lot of room when you get four or five of them in there. Therefore, it is important to determine how much room you will need for all your favorite toys.

How will you load it?

If you plan on using your trailer for tailgating, then loading is not a big deal. However, if you plan on taking 4 wheelers, motorcycles or jet skis, then loading it becomes very important. Since you cannot just pick them up and place them in, you need to find out if it comes with a ramp or if you need to get it separately.

How will you clean it?

Always, always think about cleaning. Metal storage is easy to keep clean.  A good power water hose and you can spray clean your trailer. This is really important for all those who love the mud. However, metal can be hot to the touch so be careful when entering on hot sunny days.

Can my car tow the weight?

The weight of an unloaded toy hauler and a fully loaded toy hauler can be substantially different. While your car may be able to tow an empty trailer, when you load it down with motor cycles, jet skis, or 4 wheelers, it may be too heavy to tow. Therefore, before you start shopping around check your car, truck or SUV’s towing capacity first.

3 Repair Kits Every Fifth Wheel Toy Hauler Needs

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

If you own a fifth wheel toy hauler, then you should be carrying around three repair kits. These kits make your trips go smoother and help in case of emergency. Here we will tell you what repair kits you need and what it takes to build them.

Electrical Tool Kit

The most important repair kit is the electrical kit, because when it comes to safety, you can’t be too careful.

To build your kit, you will need:

  • Spare Fuses — You need plenty of extra fuses in case brake lights, signal lights, or any other fuse goes out. Even something as seemingly minor as an electrical car seat fuse can be important if you can’t adjust your seat to a proper driving position.
  • Tape — You will want to have both electrical and duct tape in your kit. Hanging wires can be dangerous, and taping them up can be a temporary fix.
  • Flash Light & Batteries — If you can’t see the fuse box, then you won’t be able to fix a thing.

Plumping Tool Kit

Frozen pipes and a leaky faucet are just the beginning of plumbing problems that can occur in your motor home. For your plumbing repair kit include:

  • Pipes — If a pipe breaks, you will want to replace it fast.
  • Glue — Some people like using cement glue and others prefer rubber glue. Either way, you need some way to connect your pipes.
  • Washers & O rings — When it comes to leaks, these two are normally your culprit. Keep these handy for emergencies.

RV Tire Kit

It does no good to have a spare tire if you can’t change it. Make sure you have the proper jack and you know how to use it. You will also want a tire iron, extra lug nuts, and again a flashlight with batteries. It is also a good idea to have road flares to warn other cars at night.

The Ultimate Tailgating Recipe for your 5th Wheel Toy Hauler

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

For many people, the lure of the ultimate tailgate is what drives people to purchase the 5th wheel toy hauler. You get the best of both worlds when you pull up to tailgate in your own luxury 5th wheel. You can go outside to bar-be-cue like no one else and then head inside when the sun starts blaring down.

However, if you want to pull off the ultimate tailgate, then you will need a few tips.

Achieving the Right Smell
Part of the allure of bar-be-cuing is the distinctive smell. Some people like the smell of charcoal and others like to let the meat do the work. However, if you want to draw a crowd, then you have to get some wood chips.

  • Soak the wood chips in water for at least an hour.
  • Place the chips directly on the coals or on a lower rack for propane.

Unique Foods
Everyone goes for hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwursts. Therefore, you need to get something unique to cook. If you happen to hunt, then take your fresh deer meat and hit the grill. Otherwise, go out and hunt down this meat.

This stew recipe will have the people coming in from all around. It is easy and you can place it on your grill as you cook other items.

Ingredients:

  • Vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds of venison cubed
  • Yellow, White and Purple Onion (1 each) chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 TBS of Worcestershire
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 3 to 4 cups water
  • 5 red potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1 bag of baby carrots sliced

Directions: Place large pot on the grill

  1. Sauté onions and garlic in oil
  2. Add water, Worcestershire, oregano, and venison.
  3. Let simmer for about 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Add the potatoes and carrots and cook until tender.
